PUBLIC FINANCE Β· 30% TARGET Β·
From 43.6% to 30% compulsory levies: what is the order of magnitude in euros?
A static calculation of the 30% target using 2025 GDP and compulsory-levy data.
Starting arithmetic
2025 GDP was β¬2,991.1bn. At 43.6% of GDP, compulsory levies mechanically equal about β¬1304.1bn. At 30% on the same GDP, they would be β¬897.3bn.
(43.6 β 30.0) percentage points Γ β¬2,991.1bn = β¬406.8bn
The resulting β¬406.8bn is a static order of magnitude, not a macroeconomic forecast.
Why it matters
A β¬350bn saving cannot simply become a β¬350bn tax cut while a β¬152.5bn deficit still exists. Otherwise the tax cut itself is partly debt-financed, violating the core architecture.
